HOW Courtney Stays FIT


Q. What does staying fit mean to you?

A. After challenges with disordered eating I had to reframe my mindset. I try to focus less on staying fit and instead I focus on leading with wellness. To me, wellness is a spectrum. Some days it’s salads and workouts, other days it’s Netflix and za. Giving myself permission each day to be at either end of the spectrum means no food, no practice, no exercise is off limits or forced upon me. By lifting those limitations I have learned to truly listen to my body and now naturally gravitate towards the ‘fit’ end of the spectrum.




Q. How do you enjoy staying fit?

A. A morning workout is my fav! I just know I won’t workout in the evening, that’s my reality TV time LOL. My fav ways to move are kickboxing, HIIT, weight training and hiking, give me that fresh air! I’ve been trying Pilates when I need a low impact workout and it’s very so fun! My 2021 goal is to stretch for an hour twice a week.


Q. Aside from physical activity are there other ways you enjoy staying fit?

A. OMG so many things! I’m a huge fan of intention setting. Picking a theme or word to set the tone for what I want to accomplish or embody. My 2021 theme is BE BRAVE! Mind set is so important to me after my disordered eating so therapy has been a huge help. I also curate my social media to ensure I don’t have any accounts that make me question where I’m at or promote negative emotions.

Q. Does food play a role in how you stay fit?

A. It sure does! My favourite thing to have is Athletic Greens in the morning because no matter what where the day goes I know I’m chalk full of healthy vitamins and minerals at the very least (they also make you poop and who can be mad about that?!).


My favourite winter pick me up is a Tumeric Matcha Latte - 1 tsp matcha, 1 turmeric, sprinkle of black pepper, touch of cinnamon and honey, warm almond milk 👌

Q. What is one of your favourite motivational quotes?

A. Define what health means to YOU and be fluid. If your current routine isn’t working for you/you aren’t enjoying it then change it cause it’s likely not serving you. If it was, you’d want to do it and enjoy it. Have fun with trial and error until you find your favs. Throw out all those ‘I Should’ statements.
