HOW Alyssa STAYS FIT
Q. What does staying fit mean to you?
A. “Staying Fit” is something that has always been a huge part of my life. What started out years ago as staying fit for sports has grown into so much more! To me, Staying Fit is about feeling strong physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I Stay Fit because I LOVE feeling strong, I love sweating it out, and I love how good I feel after! ♥️
I am active and exercise for SO many reasons but here are my big ones: - Because I feel stronger doing daily activities - So I can outrun (keep up with!) my 3 growing boys 😃 - To help keep my immune system strong and ward off illness - To prevent injury - To burn off stress and anxiety and release mood-lifting endorphins.
Q. How do you enjoy staying fit?
A. My favourite ways to stay fit are by lifting weights, coaching my friends through their zoom workouts, biking outdoors, yoga long walks with my Vizsla Mila, and reading!
Since covid, I have taught close to 150 live 1-hour zoom circuit style training sessions and it has been the best at keeping me fit! There are days I wake up and feel tired, just like everyone else! But then I log into my zoom class and feed off the energy of my clients! Group training is one of my FAV ways to get and STAY fit!
Q. Aside from physical activity are there other ways you enjoy staying fit?
A. Getting and Staying Fit to me means so much more than just the exercise component. I am a huge fan and promoter of meal prepping... I love to cook and bake, and I am always coming up with delicious, healthier alternatives to our favourite dishes! I love alone time in the kitchen, listening to some country music, and whipping up yummy foods for my family!
I also love educating friends on how other life choices can play a huge role in our getting and staying fit process! Proper sleep, clean & healthy foods, exercise as a stress reducer are all factors I like to point out. I also am a huge promoter of cleaner, safer, healthier beauty products because what we put onto our bodies is just as important as what we do with our bodies!
Q. Does food play a role in how you stay fit?
A. Food plays a huge role in how I stay fit. I spent my 30’s trying to figure out what did and didn’t agree with my system and what made me feel best. I know that clean, whole foods make me feel better, perform better, and sleep better. I avoid alcohol, refined sugar, dairy, and wheat because I know I do not feel well if I consume them. I listen to my body when it comes to eating... I eat when I’m hungry, not bored. I eat to fuel myself for my busy days. I do not think of certain foods as “bad”, I just try to choose clean, non processed, feel-good foods as often as I can and drink tons of water! With that being said ... I have a TOTAL sweet tooth! See below for one of my fav recipes for Chocolate Pumpkin Banana Bread!! So good!!
Q. What is one piece of guidance to someone still navigating and understanding their unique way of staying fit?
A. I love the quote “Your energy is your currency, spend it wisely”. This speaks volumes. Time is so precious ... I tell my clients to schedule workouts like they would a doctor's appointment. Make it a priority - make your health and wellness a priority! Pick something you enjoy doing, something that challenges you, something that changes you. Something that (or someone who !) energizes you! ⚡️
I see the best results and commitment from my friends who join small group training together. Who bike together, run together... together we are stronger👊🏻! And it’s way more fun Staying Fit with your friends!

🍫 Chocolate Pumpkin 🎃 Banana 🍌 Bread Recipe! Ingredients: 3 small very ripe bananas, mashed 1 cup organic pumpkin puree 1/4 c coconut flour 1/2 c oat flour 3/4 c almond flour 1/2 c cacao powder 1/4 c sunbutter 1/4 c tahini 1/4 c maple syrup 2 organic eggs 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1/4 tsp sea salt 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 c Lily’s chocolate chips 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp ginger 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix. Pour into a baking loaf pan lined with parchment. Top with a sprinkle of extra chocolate chips. Bake at 350 for 45-50 min or until baked through. Remove, let cool, slice & serve! I store in fridge for best freshness!
