HOW Linda STAYS FIT

Q. What does staying fit mean to you?

A. Staying fit means a rested and strong body, a peaceful mind and a joyful soul. It's all encompassing... strong body, calm mind and happy soul, it's balance. It's moderation and it's doing whatever makes you feel good in your body. It's bio - individual and it's a life long journey to figure it out so embrace it, enjoy it and don't be too hard on yourself.. It's about "doing" your best and movement.   


Q. What ways do you enjoy staying fit, and why do you feel they work best for you!

A. I stay fit with a combination of early morning meditation & metabolic park workouts, daily walking, alternating with weight training, yoga, biking & hiking. I have discovered over time that being too excessive in any one area means neglecting the others. It's all about finding a balance between heart rate training, strength training, cardio, meditation, balance & flexibility.     


Q. Aside from physically activity are there other ways you enjoy staying fit?

A. Sleep, Meditation and Conscious Creative Cooking. Sleep is King, without it nothing else works well or feels good, I'm not the best version of myself without sleep. Meditation is My Calm & My Center. I've only recently fully appreciated the power of the breath in calming the body & mind. It's simple & it's free. Why do so many of us ignore the power of simply getting still & breathing. That's what meditation is to me. A reset. A morning routine. A big part of staying fit is mentally feeling good. Being creative with whole foods, herbs & spices is a passion of mine. We are what we eat. It can be fun & delicious with very simple methods & ingredients.  


Q. Does food play a role in how you stay fit? 

A. Food is Fuel and without good fuel the vehicle does not run that well. We have been blessed with the gift of our bodies. We need to honour, respect & be grateful for that. I eat primarily a vegan diet. It works well with my body and age but I've been everything ~ paleo, macrobiotic, vegetarian.. find what works for you. Eat Whole real foods. Be your own detective but keep it simple & from the earth... or close to it.  


 Q.  If you could share one piece of guidance to someone still navigating and understanding their unique way of staying fit OR a favourite motivational quote what would it be? 

A. Besides getting lots of quality sleep...  Have a good, consistent morning routine that you enjoy. If your sleeping really well and get to bed early, you are excited to embrace your day with lots of energy. How you begin your day, determines your day. Win the Morning. Win the Day!!
