HOW Nick STAYS FIT
Q. What does staying fit mean to you?
A. Staying fit for me means keeping both my body and mind in a good state. That means making sure I am getting regular sweat on through some form of physical activity, or blocking off time to take a pause and read a book or "turn off the brain" for a little bit to refresh and refocus on what I'm setting out to accomplish. Life is hectic no doubt, but mindfulness and gratitude are things that bring calm and a sense of ease when you need one. Q. How do you enjoy staying fit?
A. For myself, I enjoy a wide range of activities to help keep fit and stay in decent shape. Usually you can find me playing some form of sport whether it's a rec soccer league game one a week or in the winters playing both rec hockey and soccer usually once a week and combine that with some weights in the gym. Sports have always been a big influence in my life and will always be a good way to stay fit and have fun! In the summer I've been gettin outdoors as much as I can and riding my @giant bike eveywhere I go. Put some good KM's on that thing this year! Q. Aside from physical activity are there other ways you enjoy staying fit?
A. I think just maintenance on our body is important so things like stretching, taking cold showers, drinking lots of water, intermittent fasting regularly, BIG fan of the sauna and steam room life as well! Q. Does food play a role in how you stay fit? If you’d like share a favourite recipe
A. To be honest, I just love food SO much haha - so for me I try to enjoy a little bit of everything , but do it with balance ! Being mindful of eating meals with good proteins and colourful vegetables and salads are hugely important to me, because when I am eating clean you feel really good. BUT sometimes you just gotta say fu** it and get some pizza in you or throw a juicy burger loaded with all the toppings down the hatch :)
Q. What is one piece of guidance to someone still navigating and understanding their unique way of staying fit?
A. I would say the biggest thing is just MOVEMENT each day, in today's world of laptops and cell phones it's very easy to get stuck in one position (sitting down) for too long, so it's important to just get up and move around, go for walks as a bare minimum, and from there build up more endurance, to push yourself a little harder, find a big hill to walk up, then jog and run etc.. It's going to be different for each and everyone of us, the important thing is just being active in some way a 3-4 times a week that pushes your body out of it's comfort zone a bit, you'll always feel rewarded after you're finished!!
